Bringing Free Dental Care to Communities in Need
At 80 Park Avenue Dental, we believe that quality dental care shouldn't be limited by geography or income. That's why Dr. Barry Sporer traveled to Jamaica as part of an MB2 Dental-affiliated mission trip, joining a team of volunteer dentists from across the country to provide free dental care to Jamaican citizens who otherwise have little to no access to a dentist.
A Clinic Built From a Chapel
Our team, along with fellow volunteer dentists, set up a fully functioning dental clinic inside a local chapel, turning pews and open floor space into a row of portable treatment chairs. Patients from the surrounding community came in for everything from cleanings and extractions to more involved restorative work, all provided at no cost.
The team also worked alongside local health officials to support broader public health efforts on the island, including awareness materials on dengue fever prevention provided by Jamaica's Ministry of Health.
Care, One Patient at a Time
Dr. Sporer worked chairside with patients throughout the trip, providing hands-on treatment in a setting far removed from our Park Avenue office but with the same commitment to careful, compassionate care.
Why We Go
Across Jamaica, many communities have limited access to routine dental care. Simple problems that would normally be treated early - a cavity, an infection, a toothache - can go unaddressed for years, causing pain and health complications that are entirely preventable. Mission trips like this one exist to close that gap, even if only for a few days at a time.
